Indian 1st Cricket Test Match

First Indian cricket test match was played with England Team at Lord's London. First Indian cricket test match was started on 25th June 1932 as 3-day match. As it was the first test it was a debut match for all Indians. JG Navle, Naoomal Jaoomal, S Wazir Ali, CK Nayudu, SHM Colah, S Nazir Ali, Lall Singh, M Jahangir Khan, L Amar Singh, M Nissar & PE Palia had a debut match. Also WE Bowes of England had his debut match.

The toss was won by England and they have decided to bat first. England in their first innings made 259. The highest score was from England captain DR Jardine who made 79 runs. In first innings, India's fast medium bowler Mohammad Nissar excelled in bowling by taking 5 tickets for 93 runs in 23 overs. In return Inda made 189 runs, where India's captain scored 40 runs. Yorkshire fast medium bowler William Eric Bowes took 4 wickets for 49 runs in 30 overs.

In India's first cricket test match, England made 275 runs in their second innings. In this innings also England captain DR Jardine was the top scorer with 85 runs. In this Innings, Fast medium bowler Mohammad Jahangir Khan took 4 wickets for 60 runs in 30 overs. In return India could make only 187 runs and was all out in 59.3 overs. L Amar Singh was the top scorer who took 51 runs. WR Hammond took 3 wickets for 9 runs in 5.3 overs.

India had lost their first match to England by 158 runs.

C.K.Nayudu - First Indian Cricket Test Team Captain

C.K.Nayudu - First Indian Cricket Test Team CaptainC.K. Nayudu ( Cottari Kanakiya Nayudu), the first captain of the Indian Test Cricket team and also the first cricket player of India to be honoured with Padma Bhushan award.

C.K. Nayudu was born on the 31st of October 1895 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. C.K. Nayudu started playing Cricket at an early age. He has captained the Cricket team of the Hislop Collegiate High School, Nagpur. C.K Nayudu was selected by the Modi Club, while he was studying in school and was selected as its captain.

First Class Cricket Career
C.K.Nayudu debuted the First Class Cricket in the year 1916 playing for Hindus against the Europeans. In that match, he came to bat at No. 9 when the score of his team 79 runs at a loss of 7 wickets. He had blocked the first 3 balls, and hit a 6 in the fourth one. C.K.Nayudu was invited by the ruler of Holkar to Indore in 1923 and was appointed as Captain of the ruler’s army.

International Test Cricket Career
C.K.Nayudu was the First Indian Cricket Test team captain which was played against England at Lord’s in the year 1932. In this first Indian cricket test match, C.K.Nayudu scored the highest score of 40 runs in the innings. Nayudu also played all the 26 First Class Cricket matches that were played in this tour, and scored 1,618 runs with a Batting Average of 40.45 runs. Overall, he scored 1,842 runs and grabbed 65 wickets during the whole tour. He played another six matches against England, three in the year 1933-34 and another three in the year 1936.

C.K.Nayudu’s Final First Class Cricket Match
C.K.Nayudu played his last Ranji Trophy Cricket match for Uttar Pradesh in the year 1956-57 at the age of 62, in which he scored 52 runs.

C.K.Nayudu’s final appearance was in a charity match in 1963-64, which he played for the Maharashtra Governor's XI against the Maharashtra Chief Minister's XI.

C.K.Nayudu died at the age of 72 on the 14th of November 1967 in Indore.
